Nublu Presents: The Music of Now! Festival 2026
Festival Identity, Poster Series & Artist Assets, Nublu
The Brief.
Nublu launched The Music of Now!, a three-week festival running March through April 2026 across the East Village rooms. The lineup spanned generations of New York's experimental and jazz canon: Sun Ra Arkestra with Marshall Allen, SEXMOB, Henry Threadgill's Ensemble, Meshell Ndegeocello, Chez Damier, David Virelles, Jaleel Shaw, Dan Weiss with Miguel Zenón, Isaiah Collier playing Coltrane, and dozens more across nightly bills. The identity needed to carry that scale, hold up across a poster series, festival assets, and individual artist communications.
The Approach.
I built the festival identity as a modular system rather than a single mark. The logo functions as an anchor; the poster series carries the weight. Each night gets its own composition while remaining unmistakably part of the same family, so the nightly lineup feels like chapters of one work, not a stack of flyers. The system extends to per-artist assets, social rollouts, and venue signage. The visual language tightens a loose, hand-built energy into something legible at scale.
The Result.
A coherent visual identity for one of New York's most ambitious independent music programs of 2026. Festival coverage in BrooklynVegan and the downtown press, sold-out nights including the Sun Ra Arkestra double-set, and a poster series that functions both as event communication and as collectible artifact.
