I designed the album artwork and packaging for Mahalle, the sixth studio album by İlhan Erşahin’s Istanbul Sessions, released through Nublu Records (New York). The record feels like a cinematic journey across Istanbul... moving through neighborhoods, moods, and sounds that blend old and new.
Led by saxophonist İlhan Erşahin, the band features Alp Ersönmez on bass, İzzet Kızıl on percussion, and Turgut Alp Bekoğlu on drums. Four musicians whose chemistry captures the pulse of the city. I wanted the design to mirror that same rhythm and contrast: layered, textural, and alive. The cover photo by Burçin Gültekin sets the tone, grounding the visuals in a real sense of place while leaving space for imagination.
